The fine print, kept humane
Privacy, Terms & Refunds
Last updated: July 11, 2026 · Kymella is operated from British Columbia, Canada.
Privacy Policy
Kymella exists to host one thing: your wedding invitation. We collect only what that requires, we don't sell or share it with advertisers, and we delete it when you ask.
What we collect
- From couples: your names, wedding date, venue, the details you choose to share on your invitation (your story, schedule, FAQs, registry funds), your payment for the one-time purchase (processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number), and the email address you use to contact us.
- From guests: names and, where the couple provides them, email addresses and phone numbers; RSVP responses including party size, meal choice, dietary needs and allergies, transport and accommodation notes, song requests, questions, and any messages or memories guests choose to leave.
- Automatically: standard server logs (IP address, request time) kept briefly for security and abuse prevention. We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies on invitation pages. We keep an anonymous count of how many checkouts are started versus completed, purely to understand our own conversion rate; this is never tied to a name, email, or any personal detail.
How we use it
- To display the couple's invitation to their guests and record RSVPs.
- To send transactional email only: RSVP reminders on the couple's behalf (at most two per guest) and a final logistics email shortly before the wedding. No marketing email is ever sent to guests.
- To answer guests' questions via the built-in concierge. Questions are processed by Anthropic's Claude API using only the wedding details the couple provided; they are not used to train AI models.
- To keep the service running: encrypted backups of our database are made regularly so a technical failure cannot erase a wedding.
A note on dietary and allergy information
Allergy and dietary details are collected solely so the couple and their caterer can keep guests safe and fed. They are visible only to the couple through their private dashboard, are never used for any other purpose, and are deleted along with everything else on request.
Where it lives, and who can see it
Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Railway) with backups held privately by Kymella. Access is limited to the couple (via their private dashboard link), each guest (via their own personal invitation link, which shows only their own RSVP), and Kymella's operator for support and maintenance. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; AI concierge answers are processed by Anthropic. We never sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
Wedding data is kept so couples can revisit their invitation after the day. We delete a wedding and every record tied to it (guests, RSVPs, allergies, messages, memories) within 30 days of a request from the couple, and in any case within 24 months after the wedding date. Guests may also ask us to remove their individual information at any time.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and BC's PIPA), you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@kymella.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Terms of Service
One purchase, one wedding. A Kymella purchase covers a single wedding: one invitation site, unlimited guests, the RSVP dashboard, reminders, and the concierge, with no subscription and no renewal.
- Your content. You own everything you write. You confirm you have the right to share the guest details you upload, and you agree to tell your guests, if asked, that their RSVP information is stored by Kymella on your behalf.
- Your dashboard link is your key. Anyone holding the private dashboard link can manage the wedding. Keep it safe. If it's lost, contact us and we will verify you and restore access.
- Registry funds. Kymella records pledges and directs guests to the payment link you provide (PayPal, Interac, Stripe, etc.). Money moves directly between your guests and you; Kymella never holds, transfers, or takes a cut of gifts.
- Acceptable use. Kymella is for genuine wedding and celebration invitations. Unlawful, harassing, or deceptive content may be removed and the account refunded and closed.
- Service promise, plainly. We work hard to keep every invitation online, fast, and backed up, but no online service can promise perfection. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid. This agreement is governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.
Refund Policy
If Kymella isn't right for you, we'd rather part warmly than keep your money.
- Full refund, no questions, within 14 days of purchase, as long as your invitation hasn't yet been sent to guests (fewer than five guest invitation links opened).
- After invitations have gone out, refunds are handled case by case: if something on our side genuinely failed you, we will make it right, up to and including a full refund.
- To request a refund, email hello@kymella.com from the address used at checkout. Refunds are returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
